About Our Client

Our client is a licensed early childhood education provider committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment for young children. Nutrition, consistency, and care are essential to their daily operations, and they are seeking a reliable Food Coordinator to support their program.

Position Overview

The Food Coordinator is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals for children in care, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and safety standards, and supporting daily center operations as needed. This role plays a key part in promoting healthy eating habits while ensuring compliance with licensing and food program requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Kitchen Management

  • Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack daily

  • Follow center-approved menus and accommodate food allergies or dietary restrictions

  • Ensure appropriate portion sizes for all children

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen

  • Wash dishes and sanitize surfaces according to health department standards

  • Order food, supplies, and paper products as needed

  • Follow food safety practices (gloves, hair secured/covered at all times)

  • Assist with food preparation for center events as needed

Supportive Child Care Duties

  • Create a safe, welcoming environment for children

  • Assist with meals and snacks, ensuring safe feeding practices

  • Comfort children as needed and support daily routines

  • Assist with diapering, toileting, dressing, and nap routines when required

  • Report any injuries or concerns to center leadership immediately

Compliance & Teamwork

  • Maintain compliance with licensing, food program, and funding agency requirements

  • Adhere to company policies and procedures

  • Maintain required training hours and certifications

  • Collaborate with classroom staff and leadership as needed

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Completion of DCF 45-hour training (reflected on DCF transcript or in progress per requirements)

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification

  • Minimum 2 years of experience cooking for large groups

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow health and safety standards

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes loud environment

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass a post-offer FDLE background screening

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

  • Flexibility to work assigned hours between 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday–Friday
